|
Cables - these connect the door to the spring(s).
Chain - like a bicycle chain, it connects the Operator to the Door. The Operator pulls the door up with the Chain. Drums - spools that wind up the cable. They are attached to the ends of the Spring Bar. Hinges - these hold the Sections of the door together and allow the door to bend as it goes up the tracks. Operator - the motor that is usually attached to the ceiling that lifts the overhead garage door. A common make is LiftMaster. Panel or Raised Panel - areas that are raised on a Section that provide the visual appeal. Rollers - wheels on the sides of the door that run in the Tracks. Section - the solid horizontal segments that comprise the face of the door upon which the, sometimes ornate, panels are attached (usually 4 panels per section). The Sections are hinged together to allow the door to bend as it goes up. Spring - the spring counterbalances the weight of the door so the door can be lifted with minimum effort. Springs are usually installed in pairs. Spring Bar - this extends the width of the door, sitting above the door and going through the center of the Spring(s). Tracks - rails at both sides of the door that guide the door up and down. Transmitter - "clicker", "remote control" or just "remote" that you hold in your hand, press the button and the door raises or lowers. |
